Join Our Team

We are seeking a Personal Trainer/Fitness Staff to help YMCA members reach their health and fitness goals through one-on-one and group training and coaching. PT/Fitness Staff are responsible for the delivery or high-quality health and wellness programs to all YMCA members. Program delivery includes chronic disease prevention programs, YMCA progressive fitness programs, Manager of Duty tasks, group fitness classes (strength based), conditioning centre floor coverage and other related duties. This position is in St. John's based out of the Ches Penney Family YMCA.

Job Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Kinesiology or Physical Education
  • Current fitness certification including but not limited to YMCA Personal Training or industry equivalent
  • Excellent customer service skills, relationship building skills, communication and time management skills
  • Previous experience training groups/individuals in the fitness industry with varying fitness levels and abilities
  • Standard First Aid and CPR
  • Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sectors Checks are reviewed on an individual basis
