Role Description The Painter is responsible for tending to and operating machines that spray/coat products with paint. The Painter will be responsible for ensuring that all parts are sprayed to a consistently high quality in a fast-paced manufacturing atmosphere. Responsibilities will include selecting or mixing the appropriate paint and reading and interpreting blueprints. In the course of his/her duties, the Painter will inspect surfaces for contamination prior to coating as well as completions of all previous operations. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Main Duties: Operate hand-held spray guns to spray paint or coat large items with protective coatings. Prepare and apply decals and other items to customer specifications on the finished product. Read and interpret blueprints. Inspect surfaces for contamination as well completion of all previous operations prior to application of paint. Mark, record and report defects. Apply high performance protective coatings to metal surfaces, fabricated parts, and assemblies. Knowledge of chemical application techniques. Selecting and mixing the appropriate paint. Paint small items and apply touch-ups using paint brushes or spray cans. Clean and maintain painting and coating guns, ventilation, wash booth and personal protective equipment. Comply with company policies and safe work procedures. Other duties as required.
Qualifications Experience using a spray gun or experience with powder paint systems. Ability to work independently. Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, with an ability to read and interpret blueprints. Must be able to distinguish colors. Critical eye for identifying defects. Commitment to quality and safety. Ability to interpret work orders, basic drawings, and specifications related to paint requirements. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards and consistent workmanship. Understanding of workplace safety practices, including safe handling of chemicals and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work in a production environment.
