Position Summary

The Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the timely execution of goals, objectives, and tasks related to housing and infrastructure initiatives for First Nations in Manitoba. Reporting directly to the First Nations Housing and Infrastructure Specialist, this role involves strategic planning, work plan management, and program monitoring to achieve positive outcomes. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Housing and Infrastructure colleagues to meet milestones, draft options and recommendations, and ensure the smooth progression of activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop as well as structure the planning and scheduling of various projects, initiatives, and tasks within the housing and infrastructure areas.

  • Monitor project processes and benchmarks, providing regular updates to the First Nations Housing and Infrastructure Specialist and colleagues to ensure timely progress.

  • Maintain and update workplans, task lists, and benchmarks as directed by supervisor.

  • Collaborate with colleagues and offer support to meet time-sensitive deadlines.

  • Assist in the development of high-level documentation, including strategies, discussion papers, and position papers.

  • Apply knowledge of project management principles to ensure effective coordination and execution of tasks related to project coordination.

  • Providing coordination actions on other program assignments that require the administration of activities, which may include outside consultants or partners.

  • Maintain an understanding of housing and infrastructure issues specific to First Nations.

  • Adhere to office policies and procedures and confidentiality agreements; and

  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s/Graduate degree in Education, Communications, or related fields.

  • 3-5 years of proven experience in managing various programming with a demonstrated ability to apply best practices.

  • Program Management experience would be considered an asset.

  • Strong time management and resource management skills.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of First Nations’ policies and political issues in Housing and Infrastructure would be an asset.

  • Reliable, trustworthy, and dependable.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Ability to follow office procedures, practices, and confidentiality.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and

  • Adhere to AMC policies and procedures with specific attention to attendance and professional

  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment; and

  • Possess a valid Class 5F Driver’s License, work flexible hours, and travel upon

The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs was formed in 1988 by the Chiefs in Manitoba to advocate on issues that commonly affect First Nations in Manitoba. AMC represents 62 of the 63 First Nations in Manitoba with a total of more than 151,000 First Nation citizens in the province, accounting for approximately 12 per cent of the provincial population. AMC represents a diversity of Anishinaabe (Ojibway), Nehetho (Cree), Oji-Cree, Dene and Dakota people and traditions.
