About the role

The Financial and Consumer Services Commission (Commission) is a leader in integrated financial and consumer services regulation. The Commission’s mandate is to protect consumers and enhance public confidence in the financial and consumer marketplace through the provision of regulatory and educational services. With offices in both Fredericton and Saint John, it is responsible for the administration and enforcement of provincial legislation regulating mortgage brokers, payday lenders, real estate, securities, insurance, pensions, credit unions, trust and loan companies, cooperatives, unclaimed property, and a wide range of consumer legislation. The Commission is a self funded Crown corporation responsible for the administration and enforcement of financial consumer services legislation.

Licensing Officer – Insurance Division (Fredericton, NB)

Full-time 

The Financial and Consumer Services Commission (FCNB) is seeking a Licensing Officer to join our Insurance Division. This position is open to candidates based in our Fredericton office.

Your Focus

  • Administer licence applications by processing new and renewal submissions in licensing systems (CRM), reviewing documentation, verifying cross-jurisdictional data, and issuing licences in accordance with the Insurance Act
  • Follow up with applicants to request missing or incomplete information and escalate complex files to senior staff when appropriate
  • Respond to inquiries from applicants, licensees, intermediaries, and the public by phone and email, providing clear and accurate information on licensing requirements
  • Maintain records by updating and organizing both digital and physical files, ensuring data is accurate, complete, and accessible
  • Review and process termination of sponsorship requests and process brokerage change requests.
  • Collaborate across teams to support issue escalation, coordinate with Finance on payments and refunds, and report licensing system issues to IT
  • Contribute to administrative operations such as coordinating licensing exams, preparing division mail-outs and bulletins, and supporting reception, meetings, and correspondence tracking
  • Participate in meetings and assist in improving internal processes through documentation and procedural updates

What You Bring

  • Completion of a post-secondary administrative program or two years of university

  • Minimum 3 years of administrative assistant or related experience

  • Superior organizational skills and high attention to detail

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Additional Strengths

  • Experience in a regulatory or licensing environment

  • Familiarity with CRM systems

  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service

  •  Bilingualism
