Job Summary
Responsible for notifying customers of delinquent accounts to solicit payment and maintaining accurate financial records. This role involves direct customer interaction, data entry, and coordination with service centers to ensure proper handling of COD checks.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Communicates with customers by phone or in person to determine reasons for overdue payments and reviews terms of sales, service, or credit contracts.
- Receives payments and posts amounts to customer accounts.
- Compiles and maintains basic credit information, including financial status and collection efforts
- Reviews and monitors credit sources, credit files, customer applications, and delinquent accounts.
- Maintains records related to credit risks, delinquent accounts, and incomplete files.
- Verifies and updates account information across multiple systems; clears and matches account data
- Ensures compliance with established guidelines and procedures.
- Coordinates and follows up with service centers regarding missing COD checks. Records and distributes COD checks to customers.
- Performs other duties as assigned, which may include supporting the Accounts Receivable department.
Nature and Scope
- Refers complex, unusual problems to supervisor.
- Under general supervision, exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques. Work typically involves regular review of output by a senior coworker or supervisor.
- None.
Work Environment
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
- No travel required.
Education and Experience
- HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.
