Safety & Sustainanility Expectations
Is responsible for their health and safety as well as others. Will correct or report unsafe practices or conditions. Maintains a safe and healthy place to work. Make suggestions to improve any aspect of safety and correct issues wherever possible.
Will understand and follow company policies and procedures
Learns and follows the safety rules and procedures for safe performance of the job.
Key Responsibilities
Accountability for the safe and efficient outcomes of the blast
Be proficient with site Electronic Blasting Systems Clean and load longhole stopes Ability to time and log longhole blast The installation and removal / replacement of water, sump and slurry piping services as required.
Prep for longhole blasting including installing vent curtains
Must be able to operate underground mobile equipment including scissordecks, blockholer and service vehicles.
Must be able to read and understand mining prints
Other duties as assigned by the Frontline Supervisor
Training and Education
High School Diploma
Basic Underground Common Core (U0000, U0001, U0002 and U0012) U0006 Blast Rock U0011 Extend Services U0024 Operate Utility Vehicle U0025 Operate Mechanized Muck Conditioner (Blockholer) U0028 Operate Scissor Lift U0080 Install and Maintain Underground Pipe System U0082 Install and Maintain Underground Ventilation Equipment Minimum of five (5) years mining experience, including 3 years in a stope prep role.
Fall arrest training
Heavy machinery experience an asset Self-motivated Good planning and organizational skills, able to read mining prints Teamwork orientated Working Conditions
Dayshift only
