About the Job

Are you passionate about supporting environmental operations and ensuring materials move safely, efficiently, and responsibly? We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Dispatcher to coordinate and manage the daily movement of our fleet. Reporting directly to the Customer Service Manager, the Dispatcher is an integral part of the Customer Service and Logistics Team. The Dispatcher will ensure timely dispatching, efficient routing, and effective communication between drivers, suppliers, customers, and internal teams to support smooth and cost-effective transportation services. It is imperative to be able to prioritize critical and urgent tasks in a logical and efficient manner to ensure daily activity flows smoothly while maintaining compliance with company policies and transportation regulations. Salary for this role is $70-80K based on experience and qualifications.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Schedule and dispatch drivers in an efficient manner to appropriate locations according to customer or supplier requests and needs; maintain accurate records of dispatches and load details in the transportation management system
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers and maintain regular communication to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any issues that arise during transportation. Identify any delayed loads and ensure that customers are notified of changes in delivery schedules.
  • Monitor vehicle locations, driver hours and e-logs, using this data to adjust routes as needed to optimize efficiency and driver workloads.
  • Collaborate with maintenance team to ensure fleet readiness and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of transport equipment and regulations to understand how drivers can be routed, based on limitations imposed by equipment specifications and regional regulations.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of various shipping sites, suppliers, and customers locations around Ontario, in order to efficiently schedule deliveries and identify backhaul opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot for data entry errors Assist in other areas of the business that are involved in the dispatching process, including working closely with the fleet coordinators, purchasing, and sales team.

Here’s What You Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education in logistics or transportation is an asset).
  • 3-5 years of dispatch or logistics experience.
  • A valid G Class Ontario Driver’s Licence.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word) for reporting and data management.
  • Strong understanding of transportation regulations and fleet management practices.
  • Proficient using dispatching software and GPS tracking systems. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
