Role Summary The project coordinator coop opportunity is for motivated, multi-faceted technically inclined students who enjoys working on a wide variety of tasks, are quick to learn, and keen to make a significant contribution to a successful and growing company.

Why This Role Matters to Modern Niagara This COOP position provides students a unique opportunity to learn directly from the field while working closely with industry professionals. It allows undergraduates step into the heart of project operations by seeing firsthand how teams coordinate, how schedules are maintained, how challenges are solved, and how buildings take shape each day. They will be playing an important role in supporting the successful delivery of construction projects, at the same time, building valuable technical and professional skills that are difficult to acquire in a classroom, and provided a strong foundation for a future career in construction or project management. It’s an opportunity to make meaningful contributions while gaining practical insight into how complex construction projects come to life.

Key Impact / Purpose

  • Strengthen communication and collaboration across project teams
  • Build foundational project management skills in a practical environment

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with project managers for reporting and gathering of information
  • Assist with site contract document control
  • Work with general contractors to coordinate priorities and activities
  • Coordinate and support various meetings with subcontractors and clients
  • Support the management and monitoring of a construction schedule
  • Communicate and relay information between office personnel and field staff
  • Support project managers, coordinators and foremen on various other projects as requested

Must-haves:

  • Working towards a university degree or college diploma in a related field such as Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills with hands-on working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Team player, energetic, resourceful, reliable and timely
  • Eager to work and learn in a fast-paced industry
  • Comfortable working on a construction job site, or office setting

Nice-to-haves:

  • Related work experience is an asset, including from other co-op placements, internships, projects
  • Experience in the construction industry a strong asset but not mandatory
  • Basic understanding of plumbing and HVAC systems an asset but not necessary
  • Working at Heights Certificate – not mandatory, as we will provide training
