This position is open to all qualified OPSEU staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 12 May 2026 and closing at 11:59 pm on 20 May 2026.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performing routine and specialized test procedures in Chemistry, Hematology and Blood Bank; organizing workflow to maintain performance standards of quantity and quality; observing, troubleshooting and reporting problems with methods, equipment etc. to his/her supervisor; ensuring cleanliness of equipment and immediate work area; following established safety and infection control procedures; participating in student/staff training programs, as required; and performing other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Sciences (CSMLS);
-
Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO);
-
Current theoretical and technical knowledge in Hematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry;
-
Must have in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments and their interrelationships;
-
Must have working and technical knowledge of the electronic and/or mechanical equipment necessary to perform routine and specialized testing;
-
Proven problem solving skills, with the ability to recognize problems, identify the cause, create alternatives and determine solutions;
-
Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
-
Able to exercise independent judgement, deductive reasoning with attention to detail;
-
Able to work effectively under pressure in emergency situations;
-
Proven organizational skills with the ability to assess requests and prioritize them to ensure good and prompt patient care;
-
Physically capable of performing bending, lifting, turning frequently throughout the shift to accomplish tasks;
-
Recent experience in a Core Laboratory, preferred;
-
Must have a satisfactory performance record;
-
