About the role
Located at the head of Lake Ontario, spanning the vibrant municipalities of Burlington and Hamilton, Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG) is Canada’s largest botanical garden and one of the nation’s earliest and most cherished nature sanctuaries. We are currently seeking a Set Up Crew member to help keep our venues clean, safe, and event ready. If you enjoy hands-on work, take pride in providing excellent service, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, we want to hear from you!
This is a Part-Time Permanent position, up to 24 hours per week.
What You'll Do
- Maintain clean and welcoming indoor spaces across RBG Centre and other buildings.
- Set up and tear down furniture, staging, and audiovisual equipment for public and private events.
- Interpret and execute floor plans to ensure accurate event layouts.
- Ensure adequate cleaning supplies are stocked through inventory checks and timely replenishment.
- Promote sustainability by sorting recycling and removing waste efficiently.
- Support daily operations by receiving, unloading, and delivering supplies.
- Assist with building access by locking and unlocking event spaces as required.
- Transport assets between RBG properties to support seamless event and site operations.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on cleaning and audiovisual equipment.
- Interact with guests by providing clear and courteous assistance to enhance their experience.
What You Bring
- Experience in cleaning and maintaining multi-use public facilities.
- Familiarity with setting up event spaces, including reading and following layout plans.
- Experience operating and maintaining cleaning tools and audiovisual equipment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Understanding of workplace safety protocols and sustainability practices.
- A valid Class G Driver’s License and a clear driving record.

- Work Conditions: Indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions; includes physical tasks such as lifting (up to 50 lbs.), moving furniture, and extended periods of walking/standing.
- Schedule: Part-Time (up to 24 hours/week), with morning, afternoon, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- Location: Work may occur across multiple RBG sites.
