Senior Project Engineer

Role Description This is a 12-month contract role for a Senior Project Engineer based in downtown Vancouver, BC, which is likely to be extended on approval for the next phase of the project. The incumbent will report to the VP Projects for the client and lead the planning, coordination, and execution of feasibility study activities for a large capital project within the mining sector, ensuring alignment with client requirements, safety standards, and budget constraints. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing project plans and schedules, overseeing the EPCM activities and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. The role also involves monitoring project performance, managing technical risks and issues, preparing progress reports and presentations, and engaging with stakeholders to ensure clear communication and timely decision-making. The Senior Project Engineer will also assist in building a broader technical team as the project progresses. This is a great opportunity for an up-and-coming senior project engineer to demonstrate their ability to transition into the project manager role on an owner's team.
Qualifications **** MUST ALREADY BE RESIDENT IN OR NEAR VANCOUVER, B.C., CANADA. **** Candidates should possess strong multi-disciplinary engineering skills with experience in capital projects and industrial environments. Candidates should possess solid project management and project planning skills, including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and resource coordination. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical information clearly to stakeholders. Relevant experience in the mining industry or heavy industrial sectors, including familiarity with safety regulations, standards, and site-based work requirements. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mechanical preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency with project management and engineering tools (e.g., MS Project or similar scheduling software, CAD or design tools, and standard office applications). Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and deliver results within defined timelines and budgets. Professional engineering registration is a requirement.
