Certified Director, People Services Commencing August 24, 2026
The Red Deer School Division invites applications from experienced, dynamic, and progressive leaders for the position of Certified Director, People Services. As a member of the People Services team, the Director supports a variety of key portfolio areas that support the division’s overall priorities. The Red Deer School Division serves approximately 11, 000 students in 22 schools across the division and has an approximate 1250 - person workforce. About The Position The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the People Services team in the following areas:
- Provides for the training/mentorship of teachers and administrators and the development of leadership capacity within the Division, in collaboration with the Associate Superintendent, People Services. (LEADS Cohort, Aspiring Leaders, Principal & VP Mentorship).
- Provides effective New Teacher Mentorship Programs.
- Providing instructional leadership expertise to administrators.
- Assists Division personnel with People Services processes.
- Supporting the frameworks for supervision and evaluation of administrators and teachers.
- In collaboration with the Associate Superintendent, People Services, investigates and facilitates resolution of concerns and conflicts.
- Maintains accuracy of and assists schools with Assignable Time Calculators.
- Ensuring the proper fiscal management of department budget allocations.
- Demonstrating effective organizational skills resulting in compliance with all legal, Ministerial and Board mandates and timelines, and adherence to Superintendent directives.
- Work with post-secondary institutions to facilitate practicum placements.
- Responsible for various human resource management functions.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the People Services team.
The Candidate The successful candidate will have an exemplary background as a school leader, including the following qualifications:
- Holds a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
- Holds a Master of Education Degree in Educational Leadership or related field.
- Evidence of LQS Certification (Completion of Pathways to Certification Workshop or Post-Secondary Credential) or firm completion timeline
- Educational administrative experience at the school, divisional, and/or provincial level.
- Exhibits excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and will be a leader who cultivates a progressive educational culture.
- Has working knowledge of Division policy and Administrative Procedures.
- Is an honest and trustworthy leader who models personal and professional integrity and possesses exceptional people skills.
- Working knowledge of the PowerSchool Atrieve program is an asset.
- Ability to work collaboratively with schools and build trust at all levels through authentic relationships.
- Is an approachable, open-minded individual who is a collaborative team-builder, and a good listener, seeking to first understand before navigating difficult issues.
