WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR ?
Communications Assistant
Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Assistant, Communications will be a member of the communications team and will assist in several communications and media relations initiatives.
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Communications department.
- Assist in the collection and selection of photography for all print and electronic communications and maintain photo database for organization.
- Maintain the organization’s Virtual Media Centre in the lead up to and during the National Bank Open.
- Work with digital and content teams to produce and publish content for Tennis Canada and National Bank Open websites.
- Research, write, and edit media releases and advisories.
- Produce daily media watch news clippings.
- Manage media credential application and acceptance process under the guidance of the coordinator.
- Assist in the content creation and production of National Bank Open, fan and media guides.
- Assist with management of team of volunteers and summer staff during tournament.
- Assist with set-up and operations of professional, working media centre, and provide world-class service to both national and international media members.
- Assist with all other PR initiatives.
WHO YOU ARE ?
- Recent graduate in Public Relations/Communications, Sports Management or a related field.
- Minimum 1 year’s experience working in communications, sports, or journalism.
- Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Excellent organization, time management skills and attention to detail.
- Capacity to work independently as well as be a team player.
- Excellent tact, great work ethic and professionalism.
- Knowledge of tennis is an asset.
- French is an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Employment period: Mid-April 2026 to Mid-to-late August 2026 – dates to be confirmed.
- Contract: around 35 hours a week.
- Some evenings and weekend work are required, and extended hours will occur during the National Bank Open.
- Availability required throughout the National Bank Open from August 1st to August 13th (inclusive).
