About the Role
We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a Seed Analyst Trainee. This entry-level position is designed for candidates who want to develop expertise in seed analysis and quality systems in a laboratory setting. You will receive comprehensive training in sample preparation, testing, and evaluation, with the opportunity to progress as you gain experience and accreditation.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare samples for testing, planting, and evaluation within accredited areas.

Learn and maintain compliance with accreditation scope (CFIA Tables 1 through 20).

Learn and maintain compliance of AOSA and ISTA Rules
-
Understand and apply:
- SGS Code of Integrity
- Global SGS Quality and Professionalism Policy Statement
- SGS Sherwood Park Quality Policy and all aspects of the Quality System
-
Identify and report quality issues in processes to the Quality System.
-
Recommend or assist in implementing solutions to nonconformances.

Work competently in LIMS for sample tracking and data management.

Ensure awareness of occupational health and safety risks and proper use of PPE in all work areas.
Qualifications
-
Education: High School diploma.
-
Experience: Specialized knowledge beyond high school, typically gained through 1–2 years of formal or technical training. Experience in an accredited laboratory or at a university in Botany, Crop Science, or a related field is a strong asset.

High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail.
-
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills (verbal and written).

Ability to read and comprehend labels and instructions.
-
Dependable and reliable; daily presence contributes to departmental success.

Ability to follow instructions independently with minimal supervision.
