Description
This is a temporary contractor position.
The Network Specialist is responsible for the secure design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of ISP network infrastructure. The role combines network engineering and cyber security responsibilities, including firewall deployments, network device hardening, engineering documentation, and day-to-day support of a carrier-grade network environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deploy, configure, and support next-generation firewalls and network security solutions. Perform network device hardening and maintain secure configuration standards. Develop High-Level and Low-Level Design documents, implementation plans, diagrams, and operational procedures. Support daily operations of ISP core, edge, aggregation, transport, and access networks. Troubleshoot routing, switching, security, and service delivery issues. Implement network upgrades, migrations, and capacity expansion projects. Support vulnerability remediation, incident response, and security audits.
Required Experience & Technical Skills
3–7+ years of experience in network engineering, network operations, or telecommunications environments. Knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPv4/IPv6, VPNs, QoS, Carrier Ethernet, and high availability technologies. Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, and Ciena networking platforms. Understanding of cyber security principles, network segmentation, IDS/IPS, NAC, and Zero Trust concepts. Experience with monitoring platforms, network documentation, and troubleshooting methodologies.
Preferred Certifications
CCNA, JNCIA-Junos, Fortinet Certified Associate (FCA), CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+. CCNP Enterprise/Security/Service Provider, JNCIP, Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP).
This is a hybrid position requiring the successful candidate to work on-site in Toronto a minimum of two (2) days per week
Pay Rate Range
Min Pay Rate: $65 Max Pay Rate: $80 Currency: CAD Unit: hourly
