Junior Systems Technician
About the role
We are looking for a Junior Systems Technician to join our Engineering team in Vancouver, BC. In this role, you will support infrastructure projects and help maintain secure, reliable IT environments for our clients and internal systems. The successful candidate is motivated to learn, communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and takes pride in maintaining well-documented and organized systems.
As part of the Engineering team, you will assist with infrastructure changes involving servers, storage, virtualization platforms, and cloud services such as Microsoft 365 and Azure. You will help complete migrations and upgrades—including virtual machines, SIP phone systems, and cloud platforms—while also handling foundational operational tasks like patching, monitoring, backup verification, and documentation. The role also involves contributing to root-cause analysis during outages, maintaining inventories and technical documentation, and occasionally participating in on-call rotations or after-hours maintenance windows.
The ideal candidate has at least one year of experience administering Windows Server/Active Directory or Linux environments and hands-on exposure to virtualization platforms such as Proxmox or Hyper-V. A solid understanding of IP networking, cybersecurity fundamentals, and Microsoft 365/Entra or endpoint management tools is important. Experience with monitoring or RMM tools and backup platforms is considered an asset. This hybrid role requires occasional travel to local client sites or data centers, and candidates must have a valid BC Class 5 driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and a clean driver’s abstract.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with infrastructure deployments, upgrades, and migrations across servers, virtualization platforms, and cloud environments
- Perform routine operational tasks such as patching systems, monitoring alerts, verifying backups, and updating asset inventories
- Support the implementation and maintenance of Microsoft 365, Azure, and endpoint management solutions
- Help troubleshoot service issues and participate in root-cause analysis and remediation during incidents
- Maintain accurate documentation including runbooks, topology diagrams, and system inventories
- Participate in on-call rotations, after-hours maintenance windows, and occasional travel to local client or data center locations
