Transportation Engineer

Binnie is looking for a Transportation Engineer to join our Traffic Services Division, which provides traffic engineering services for traffic operations reviews, traffic safety studies, traffic modelling and analysis, transportation planning reports, and traffic management studies. Some recent assignments include traffic engineering support on the Owner’s Engineer Team for the Pattullo Bridge Replacement and Fraser River Tunnel Projects, traffic management support on the Broadway Subway Line, and traffic modelling support for TransLink’s new rapid bus lines.
This position is in our Burnaby office, located near scenic Deer Lake. You will work with our experienced Project Managers and Senior Traffic Engineers. You will prepare design calculations, conduct traffic analysis, perform field visits, write proposals, create reports, and communicate with various parties on projects. YOUR ROLE:
- Complete Traffic Engineering analyses with respect to mobility and safety
- Complete and supervise traffic modelling assignments
- Lead the development of traffic management studies and traffic control plans
- Prepare technical reports to summarize analysis methodology and findings
- Maintain complete traffic engineering and design records
- Supervise and Mentor EITs and designers
- Develop and undertake quality control procedure relating to traffic engineering
- Ensure that all designs adhere to design standards
WHAT YOU BRING:

Minimum 4+ years of previous work experience in a Canadian transportation engineering environment is required. Previous experience working in a consulting environment is an asset.

Completed university degree in Civil engineering

Registered to act as an Engineer of Record with EGBC
-
Valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle preferred

Good working knowledge of Civil3D and AutoCAD
-
Working knowledge of traffic analysis software (eg. Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, Sidra, AutoTURN, and/or HCS) are an asset

An understanding of traffic operations and signal timing principles

Working knowledge of transportation industry guidelines, manuals, and best practices

Strong organization and time management skills

Ability to work cooperatively and productively in a team environment

Ability to consistently maintain a high degree of accuracy and quality in work

Ability to manage projects and lead a team of engineers and designers
