Manufacturing Engineer
Scope:
The Manufacturing Engineer will oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and systems. This role includes analyzing production methods, troubleshooting operational issues, and integrating new technologies to increase efficiency and product quality. The engineer will collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to ensure manufacturing processes meet company standards, cost targets, and delivery schedules. The scope encompasses process optimization, equipment selection and maintenance, process documentation, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to produce high-quality products efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Review customer requirements to develop and prepare internal control plans (Work Order) and work instructions for parts and products across all complexity levels,
- Perform peer reviews on manufacturing plans and work instructions developed by Interns and Junior Engineers,
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve production workflows, implement new technologies, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Assure product and process quality by developing test methods, analyzing process capabilities, establishing standards, and continuously evaluating manufacturing processes,
- Assess non-conforming product and generate plans for medium to high complexity rework as required,
- Participate in evaluation of current practices and implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives,
- Develop and utilize statistical techniques to monitor manufacturing processes,
- Assist the business unit by evaluating and developing tooling, infrastructure requirements, workspace layouts, new technology implementation, workflows and processes relating to CIL manufacturing, supply chain, and quality,
- Analyze technical data and advise on manufacturing feasibility,
- Work in conjunction with the Quality committee on Root Cause and Corrective/Preventive Actions,
- Participate in DFMA and Value Engineering consultations with internal and external stakeholders,
- Develop PFMEA for products and processes as required,
- Provide technical support both internally and externally as required,
- Provide quoting support for medium to high complexity parts or products as required,
- Develop work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures,
- Mentor and coach Interns and Junior Engineers,
- Support the Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Qualifications:
- College diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- CM2 certification would be considered as an asset but not required.
- Possesses critical and analytical thinking skills,
- Understands mfg. processes, lean concepts, fabrication methods and tool design, and standard measuring tools,
- Able to self-organize and work independently or as part of a team, with strong project management skills
- Adept at interpreting technical data, drawings, specifications, and requirements and translating them into clearly defined internal processes and work instructions,
- Strong command of English language, and able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders,
- Well versed in a variety of Eng. applications and software (ie. CATIA, Mastercam, Microsoft Word, Excel, ERP, Power BI),
- Has, or willing to obtain, 200 hours of shop floor experience (operating machines, set-up, measuring parts, etc.)
