The Client Services Navigator is part of a skilled team that supports individuals and families regarding issues of food security, poverty, social isolation and opportunity. The Client Services Navigator is involved in the daily operations of the Archway Community Services Food Bank and the programs it runs. This position works as a member of the Client Services team to assess access to food and use a client-centered approach to support individuals and various programs. The Client Services Navigator will assess individuals’ and families’ eligibility for Food Bank services and determine appropriate/cultural food to meet specific needs. In addition, the Client Services Navigator supports the Program Supervisor in providing a client-centered, human rights/social equity–based approach to supporting individuals and families. The Client Services Navigator will provide a single point of contact for referrals to Archway programs and other organizations which provide wraparound services to assess clients’ needs in addition to their Food Bank requirements and explain other Archway services which would be of benefit for individuals/families.

Your Role:

Archway’s Client Services Navigator with the Food Bank contributes by:

  • Performing program intake services using a client centered approach.
  • Making appointments to meet with new clients needing Food Bank services, opening new client files and accurately entering client information into the client database.
  • Determining food requirements, including dietary needs, culturally appropriate food, and other specifics.
  • Assessing clients’ needs for other Archway services, such as Family Advocacy, Community Connections, Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC), Seniors Services, and providing information and resources on services best suited to meet clients’ needs.
  • Supporting the Client Services Program Lead in providing support, leadership, and direction to volunteers in Client Services and food distribution areas using a variety of techniques including coaching, training, and feedback.

  • Wage: $23.00 to $24.00 per hour.
  • A part-time position at 21 hours per week, availability Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30 AM to 4:00PM.
  • Temporary until May 2027, with possibility of extension.

###Getting an Interview–you will be considered if you have:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years’ experience in a customer service position.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations is preferred.

The Job Requires you to have:

  • Well-developed verbal, written, and active listening skills; able to communicate effectively and respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Good organization, planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and build rapport with clients, volunteers, suppliers, and other stakeholders, while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Good computer competency; able to use Microsoft Office 365, and virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams and database systems.
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good understanding of safe working procedures and the ability to inform new staff on those requirements.
  • Knowledge of the issues, barriers and impacts encompassing food insecurity, homelessness, and housing.
  • Ability to communicate in a language other than English is an asset.
  • Knowledge of effective coaching, mentorship and relationship building practices.
  • Ability to navigate challenging conversations and sensitive topics.
  • Ability to effectively interact in a diplomatic, collaborative, professional and results-oriented manner.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
