Senior Geography and History courses provide ongoing opportunities for our students to explore the themes of environmentalism, pluralism, and indigenous issues, which should be significantly reflected in your teaching experience.
Based in central Ottawa, Ashbury College is currently seeking a full-time Grade 9 to 12 Social Studies teacher beginning in the 2026 - 2027 academic year. As the successful candidate, you have demonstrated subject matter expertise in Social Studies. You also have a history of school and community involvement, promoting belonging, bringing enthusiasm and energy to the classroom, thriving in a busy learning community, and working collaboratively with colleagues. Your teaching practice includes current learning theories, and creative use of technology. Priority will be given to candidates who are Ontario College of Teachers certified
Minimum Requirements
- A degree in Geography or History
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification (in good standing), currently in progress toward achieving OCT certification, or demonstrated ability to obtain OCT certification
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise
Preferred Qualifications
- International Baccalaureate experience
- The ability to teach in both English and French
- Evidence of teaching that has been enhanced by technology
- Demonstrated commitment to enriching whole school life for students, including promoting pluralism and enhancing student belonging.
- International teaching experience

Specific responsibilities include:
- Teach full-time (5 classes).
- Lead and participate in co-curricular activities.
- Lead a Teacher Advisory Group.
- Provide on-call coverage as required.
- Actively participate in Department meetings, faculty teaching and learning opportunities, and whole school activities.
Ashbury College provides a competitive compensation package, including participation in the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.
