Reporting to the VP, Business Support Systems in IT, the Sr Director IT Residential will provide technical and business oversight to the applications, systems, tools and IT processes/delivery that enable outcomes in support of the Residential portfolio. This includes strategic planning, leadership on day-to-day operations as well as driving IT system integration activities. They will lead a national team of IT professionals and leverage 3rd party partnerships to deliver on current day commitments, while future proofing for requirements of the future. This leader will also act as a prime on the Cost Optimization Program (COPO) on behalf of the IT organization and in partnership with peers within IT, OSS, Digital and other business units.

Key accountabilities will include:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Define priorities and measures of success/KPIs and effectively navigate/drive to the desired outcomes

  • Be accountable for IT programs, projects and initiatives designed and operationalized in support of the Residential portfolio

  • Identify opportunities where IT can help drive improved speed to market for Residential offerings and deliver efficiencies and enhanced outcomes

  • Balance current / day to day operational requirements with future state/transformational objectives

  • Stay abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in the market, while also tracking competitor advancements and benchmarking across industry. Apply these insights to enhance our competitive advantage, drive customer satisfaction, and inform strategic decision-making

  • Lead initiatives to integrate and adopt digital technologies across the organization, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.

Supporting Business Outcomes via Internal and External Relationships:

  • Act as a strategic partner to the business by translating key inputs into actionable insights that shape and drive future direction

  • Collaborate with cross-functional peers to formalize the IT strategy to enable business results, implementing processes to drive intentional investment decisions, and maximizing returns on investments

  • Foster open communication and knowledge sharing with cross functional peers, promoting best practices and cross-functional collaboration to break down silos and operate seamlessly as an enterprise

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, vendors, industry peers and internal stakeholders to drive a common understanding of priorities, strategies and solutions

  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization while maintaining focus on a positive customer experience

  • In partnership with Procurement, negotiate and manage vendor agreements and relationships

  • Develop relationships with Finance and HR to support relevant initiatives

Technical Leadership and Operational Excellence:

  • Enable complex/multi-faceted IT programs by applying understanding of systems and technologies, effectively managing demand, sequencing of activities, and quality engineering/assurance, and partnering effectively with IT peers

  • Drive development and maintenance of scalable IT systems, tools and processes, ensuring they meet current and future needs, and are designed in alignment with target architecture

  • Establish and enforce best practices, standards, and processes for development, deployment, and governance

  • Foster change by defining key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success and impact IT initiatives and implement a feedback loop to continuously assess and improve their effectiveness

  • Oversee the effective monitoring and evaluation of both performance and impact of our solutions and provide insights and recommendations for improvement and innovation

Talent Management:

  • Attract, develop, and retain skilled IT professionals to support business needs

  • Enable business continuity through robust succession planning for key roles

  • Foster a culture of inclusion, collaboration and diversity of experience and thought

  • Determine appropriate allocation of internal and external resources across portfolio

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field

  • At least 10 years of experience in technology, with at least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership or management role

  • Experience with various software domains and systems including customer management, product management, billing, order management, provisioning management required, as well as release management and integrated testing

  • Partner integration experience – understand how to build software that can be leveraged with various third-party products

  • Proven track record of leading and delivering successful IT projects and solutions, from ideation to implementation to evaluation

  • Advocacy of a SecDevOps mindset and understanding of value stream management, to enable speed to market, quality and desired business and customer experience outcomes

  • Business and financial acumen, including experience managing budgets (ideally $50m+), vendor management, and procurement

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technology concepts and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower the IT teams and stakeholders

  • Highly collaborative, adaptable, and customer-oriented approach, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

  • Ability to influence and lead without authority; experience leading complex, cross-functional stakeholders to execute high-impact projects

  • Ability to act as an effective translator, gathering business needs, pain points, requirements, and overall strategy to design the right solutions
