Senior Engineer (Municipal Infrastructure)
About the role
Transportation and Infrastructure - Government of Newfoundland and Labrador
This is highly responsible and complex professional engineering work in the field of planning, design and construction associated with new and existing municipal facilities, such as recreation and community centers, fire halls, water and wastewater treatment plants, water and wastewater facilities and systems. This position is responsible for analyzing and recommending solutions to engineering problems in relation to project function, economics, adherence to applicable codes and applicable construction regulations. Work also includes construction site visitation to ensure construction adherence to design specifications and/or approved design changes that may become apparent or necessary as construction advances. This position will provide support to the development of the municipal capital asset management framework and may require conference participation and presentation delivery to the municipal sector.
Screening Criteria
Graduation from an accredited university with a degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience in all aspects of project management (design, budget, construction)
Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with a Canadian Professional Engineering Association Experience in municipal water and wastewater treatment (i.e. regulatory guidelines, facility design, construction, operation)
Assessment Criteria
Knowledge of building planning, programming, and engineering Knowledge of design-build and design-bid-build projects. Knowledge of water and wastewater facility design, operation, and system management Knowledge of road construction Knowledge in procurement methods (asset) Knowledge of asset management (asset) Experience with GIS (asset) Analytical skills Project management skills Professionalism
Conditions of Employment
Conditions of Offer Valid Province of Newfoundland and Labrador Class 05 license Recent and satisfactory Driver's Abstract Membership or immediate eligibility for membership as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland (PEGNL) Conditions of Acceptance Travel throughout the Province may be required
