MBA Sessional Faculty, Business
About the role
Yorkville University is looking for the visionaries, the change-makers, and the entrepreneurially minded, who are seeking more from their career. Change begins with the small decisions we make, each day, to support each other and strive to create inspiring, innovative career-focused educational experiences for students, no matter where they live or how they learn.
Program Overview
Yorkville University has launched our new Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, a flexible, career-focused graduate degree designed to empower professionals with the strategic, analytical, and leadership skills needed to thrive in today’s competitive global marketplace. Offered online and in-person at our Steeles campus in Ontario, the program supports working adults with year-round enrollment, multiple annual intakes, and the option to graduate in as few as two years.
The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and global business strategy, taught by faculty with extensive academic and professional experience. Graduates emerge equipped to lead teams, drive innovation, and advance into senior roles across sectors, including finance, marketing, operations, and entrepreneurship.
Who we need
To support the successful launch and continued growth of the MBA program, we are hiring Sessional Faculty members to teach three courses per term in Economics, Management, and Strategy, depending on professional expertise and scholarly interests. You will deliver modern, engaging, and fully developed course material. You will assess student performance and create a positive and inclusive learning environment aligned with our mission of championing student success.
Sessional Faculty are required to work evenings and weekends, delivering courses synchronously online or on site at our Steeles campus in north Toronto, beginning January 5, 2026.
What's in it for you
Build, don’t just teach. This isn’t a typical MBA teaching role where you step into a long-established program. At Yorkville, you will help shape a newly launched MBA from the ground up — influencing its growth, culture, and reputation. You will join early enough to leave your mark, while the program is still evolving, yet with the backing of a national private university committed to innovation.
Recognition and career development. Yorkville is a forward-thinking, innovative university where faculty are visible and influential. This is a reputation-building role with real-world impact — focused on meeting the diverse needs of students, disrupting traditional MBA programming, and fostering true collaboration. You will join a place that inspires change, supports faculty and students alike, and continuously innovates. As part of a newly launched program, you will play a pivotal role in advancing Yorkville’s academic mission while building your own profile as an educator and thought leader.
As our new MBA Sessional Faculty, you will:
- Deliver instruction. You will teach assigned graduate-level courses in your program area, fostering critical thinking across varied learning contexts. You will adapt instructional approaches to accommodate diverse learning preferences and foster engaging, inclusive, and responsive learning environments across online, in-person, or blended formats. You will leverage Brightspace and other educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning, while maintaining compliance with university security protocols and privacy standards.
- Support student assessment and success. You will engage students in authentic learning experiences that support achievement of course objectives, including Yorkville’s Signature Learning Outcomes (SLOs). You will deliver personalized, timely, and meaningful formative and summative feedback through a variety of assessment methods. You will provide academic advising through consistent office hours (at least one hour per week per course section), and referrals to relevant university and campus resources.
- Advance curriculum development and quality. You will contribute to curriculum development and course revisions to ensure academic rigour, industry relevance, and alignment with program standards. You will annually update and submit a curriculum vitae to accurately reflect scholarly contributions, service engagements, and professional accomplishments.
- Collaborate to strengthen the academic community. You will actively participate in program, faculty, and university-wide initiatives, online or in person, to cultivate a connected, collaborative, and student-centred academic culture aligned with the teaching modality. You will collaborate with cross-functional colleagues, including Student Services, Teaching and Learning, and Regulatory Affairs, to uphold the integrity and quality of the educational experience. You may also be asked to participate in departmental and university-wide service through committee work or academic program evaluations.
- Contribute through service and scholarship. You will engage in reflective practice and ongoing professional development by analysing feedback from multiple sources, including Student End of Course Surveys (SEOCS), to identify areas for growth as an educator. You will participate in term-based and annual performance evaluations to foster continuous improvement, accountability, and professional excellence. You will maintain disciplinary and professional accreditation while fostering partnerships with industry, community, and business stakeholders to enrich learning experiences and support student career success through real-world relevance.
- Uphold the mission of Yorkville University. You will advance your academic area and contribute to enhancing the Yorkville community. You will uphold the integrity of academic and university policies, comply with provincial and federal legislation, and promote core values, distinctive capabilities, and a positive culture that supports equity, inclusion, learning, and wellness.
You have:
- The academic and professional background. You hold an earned doctoral degree in Finance, Business Management or Strategy, or a terminal degree in a relevant business field. A professional designation (for example, CPA or MBA) is an asset. Candidates with industry and inter-disciplinary expertise in business leadership, management, and strategy will be given priority consideration. You have a demonstrated record of applied research, scholarly activity, or publication history that enhances your teaching and professional practice. You ideally bring teaching experience at the graduate level, particularly in MBA programs, with success in developing or revising curriculum aligned with professional and accreditation standards.
- The industry experience. You bring professional practice in business or accounting with demonstrated applied knowledge of principles and practices. Interdisciplinary expertise and professional accreditation are preferred.
- The teaching expertise. You have proven success in program-level instruction with a strong commitment to supporting diverse learners. You are dedicated to student-centred teaching that bridges theory and practice to promote academic success and retention. You have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to respond to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles. You are experienced in facilitating learning across online, in-person, and blended modalities.
- The interpersonal skills. You can build trusting and influential relationships, nurture strong academic and professional networks, and collaborate effectively to achieve common goals. You demonstrate mature decision-making, exercise discretion, and maintain confidentiality.
- The technical skills. You are proficient with accounting and business software applications (such as QuickBooks, Syspro, or ERP systems), MS Office, Brightspace, and other educational technologies. You are committed to ongoing professional development to enhance your teaching practice and maintain disciplinary currency. You bring strengths in administration, organisation, and teamwork.
Compensation: $6500 CAD per course. Sessional Faculty work approximately 9 hours a week per course, including preparation time and a weekly open office hour.
