Temporary Regular Part-Time

Hours of work: 0.35 FTE

Union: OPSEU

Wage Range: $32.95 to $37.26 per hour

Position Objective

The successful candidate will assist with supportive counseling with individual and group work and educational/information sessions. Responsibilities also include the overall safety and security of the clients and facility, documentation and shift reporting.

Qualifications

  • College Diploma in Social Services or equivalent
  • Minimum three years working experience in addictions and behavioral counseling
  • Experience and knowledge of addictions- including treatment modalities and pharmacology; mental health services; case management- including assessment, goal setting, treatment planning, aftercare planning and referral; individual and group counseling; and development and delivery of psycho-educational sessions
  • Must be able to work in emotionally charged environment at time characterized by high stress
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a large and diversified workload with often rapidly changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability in community and conflict management
  • Experience in delivery of psycho-educational sessions and process groups required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
  • Evidence of effective organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • The successful applicant will be required to work (1) one evening shift each week to conduct a support group and will provide individual support to members as needed
  • Consistent and regular attendance required
  • Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset
