Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

Position Summary

This position provides technical writing support for research, industry collaboration, and commercialization activities in the area of engineering. The Technical Writer works closely with the involved faculty members to develop high-quality grant applications, translate technical content into clear and compelling narratives, and identify funding opportunities aligned with the research program.

The role also supports knowledge mobilization through the preparation of reports, proposals, and communication materials, and may contribute to developing and maintaining a research website to showcase projects, partnerships, and outcomes.

The College of Natural and Applied Sciences brings together scientific expertise from across disciplines to foster interdisciplinary research and innovative teaching at the University of Alberta. The college comprises the Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Faculty of Science.   • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Communications, or a related field is required.

  • Demonstrated experience in technical or grant writing is essential.

  • Strong understanding of research funding mechanisms (e.g., NSERC, IRAP, Alberta Innovates) is preferred.

  • The position requires excellent written communication skills, the ability to synthesize complex technical information, and familiarity with industry-focused research and collaboration environments.

  • Experience with website content development and knowledge mobilization is considered an asset.
