What is the opportunity?
As Program Manager Risk Management for RBC Insurance, you will lead initiatives to ensure that Operational Risk Management programs are implemented efficiently and effectively within Insurance. You will apply program management techniques in the areas of risk and control identification, risk assessment and control testing. You will work with partners in the first and second line to achieve an optimal risk-reward balance that enables RBC Insurance leaders to attain their strategic objectives and prudently manage their operational risks.
What will you do?
- Lead risk program initiatives, collaborating with Insurance Operations’ teams, ensuring appropriate implementation across RBC Insurance
- Work with business and functional partners to identify and assess operational risks and controls, and to help risk owners develop effective mitigation strategies
- Proactively identify and escalate control deficiencies to risk and control owners and document action plans
- Prepare risk reports and update governance documentation
- Establish regular monitoring and communication with internal business partners on risk program Key Risk and Performance Indicators to enhance governance and ensure alignment on objectives and expectations
- Connect changing strategic and operational priorities with evolving risk governance and regulatory landscape to drive meaningful impacts within operational risk
- Inspire a strong proactive risk management mindset and culture with business partners
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 5+ years of relevant program management/project management/risk management experience in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong knowledge of financial services organization
- A positive attitude and proven track record in learning new skills and technologies with the ability to work independently in an ambiguous environment
- Strong communication, critical thinking, negotiation, relationship management and project management skills
- Expert knowledge with operational processes
- Proven leadership experience at a senior management level, with a proven track record of building strong relationships across business functions
Nice-to-have
- Audit and/or risk management expertise or equivalent
- Bilingual in French and English is an asset
- Professional qualification (CA / CPA / MBA or equivalent)
