The project: The Contract Administrator is responsible for the effective delivery of construction‑phase contract administration services on a large, complex infrastructure or built‑environment project.Working closely with the Project Leader / Project Manager, the Contract Administrator ensures that contractual processes are applied consistently, transparently, and in accordance with the contract, governance requirements, and applicable legislation. The role requires a strong understanding of commercial management, formal contract administration, and public‑sector or regulated delivery environments.

- Ensure contract administration activities support compliance with health and safety requirements.
- Identify and escalate any contractual or procedural issues that may present safety risk.
- Support accurate recording and reporting of safety‑related events where they have contractual implications.

Key responsibilities
- Administration of the construction contract in accordance with its terms and conditions.
- Management and tracking of RFIs, submittals, technical queries, and contractual correspondence.
- Administration of change control processes, including instructions, variations, and compensation events.
- Review and processing of contractor submissions including applications for payment.
- Maintenance of contract registers, logs, and audit trails.
- Support resolution of contractual issues, disputes, and claims through structured, evidence‑based analysis.
- Attendance at project meetings and provision of contract administration input and advice.
- Support project close‑out, certification, and post‑completion obligations.
What You’ll need to have
- Proven experience delivering contract administration services on complex construction or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and formal contract administration processes.
- Experience working within public‑sector, regulated, or highly governed environments.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and record‑keeping capability.
- Strong written communication skills and ability to produce clear, professional contractual correspondence.
- Ability to manage multiple contractual matters concurrently and to tight timeframes.
You’ll also have
- Degree in quantity surveying, construction management, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) designation in Canada (e.g. CIQS or working toward) – preferable though not essential
- Experience supporting commercial management, change control, and payment certification.
- Familiarity with document control systems and formal reporting requirements.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to balance contractual compliance with practical delivery needs.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to balance risk, quality, programme, and client outcomes.
Note: The estimated salary for this position is 180,000-240,000 CAD. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
