About the role

The salary range for this position is CAD $35.36/Hr. - CAD $50.83/Hr.

At Foundry, we reimagine health care to meet the diverse needs of youth aged 12-24 and their families. With a focus on wellness, connection, and accessibility, we bring together a variety of supports—including mental health, substance use, primary care, peer, and social services—under one roof and online.

Reporting to the Leader, Services Implementation and Integration, the Services Coordinator will be

  • provide project support, navigate, and act as a liason between Foundry Central Office (FCO) and Foundry Centres within the network;
  • provide extensive coordination and engagement support to the Regional Manager of Service Implementation and Integration;
  • engage with a wide range of internal and external partners on how to ensure the Centres are meaningfully connected with FCO;
  • work with all levels of staff to facilitate engagement across multiple departments, thereby ensuring that the needs of community members, knowledgeholders, and Center Managers are prioritized within FCO education/training, research development and strategic planning activities;
  • ensure FCO is better able to deliver on its mandate to transform access to services for young people ages 12-24 in BC.

Education, Training and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Public Health, Public Policy or related field. Master’s Degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of recent, related experience in project management, community capacity-building and facilitating and managing consultation and engagement processes with a wide range of community, knowledgeholder, and rightsholder groups.
  • Strong understanding of substance use, addiction, and recovery-related issues - including acceptance of harm reduction and abstinence-oriented approaches.
  • Knowledge and/or experience working in public health, community development, substance use and addiction, and health services.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities. Understanding of the direct, intergenerational, socio-economic, and health impacts of colonialism on Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including relationship-building, negotiation, tactful and diplomatic communication skills, conflict management, and consensus-building.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision required and in collaboration within a group and across groups.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to anticipate obstacles, use logic to make conclusions and develop an appropriate course of action. Ability to respond to problems with tact and sensitivity while respecting confidentiality as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative. Generates ideas for improvement, suggests innovations, takes advantage of opportunities, and is self-motivated.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and projects, resolve problems in a timely manner, and meet deadlines. Proclivity for planning and organizing tasks efficiently to achieve objectives, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment involving policy makers, government officials, and communities affected by substance use.
  • Ability to travel provincially and nationally, if necessary.

Your Day to Day

  • Coordinates and manages logistics in the planning, implementation, and successful completion of relevant projects. Tasks include assisting in work plan development, management of partnerships (internal and external), communications and meetings, monitoring of timelines and budget, production of deliverables, knowledge translation, and the sharing of relevant data to centres.
  • Builds productive relationships with Foundry Centres alongside the Regional Manager, Implementation and Integration to help support the partnership of a wide range of provincial partners, regional health authorities, provincial government officials, academic partners, Indigenous community groups and partners, care providers, and the philanthropic community.
  • Works collaboratively and respectfully with community members, knowledgeholders, and rightsholders to support the design, implementation, and evaluation of a province-wide Foundry strategy that addresses the needs and goals of the Lead Agency’s community.
  • Assists in the planning and engagement of a number of community members, knowledgeholders, and rightsholders in strategic planning, and other centre-wide activities.
  • In collaboration with the Services department, supports outreach strategies to engage member from diverse communities, including youth, Indigenous Peoples, and people living in rural communities.
  • Travels within the province to support consultation, capacity-building, and local planning efforts across regions in BC.
  • Plans and manages logistics for meetings, including creating agendas, preparing documents and presentations, arranging travel and accommodation for participants, providing compensation and honoraria for PWLLE and Elders, organizing catering and facilities, producing meeting summaries, and following up on action items.
  • Engages health authority leads, clinical care teams, and other key partners in identifying opportunities to collaborate with various communities and knowledgeholders on how to improve substance use care to meet the needs of patients and families. Liaises with partners to ensure that community needs are prioritized in their respective work plans and initiatives.
  • Supports new partnerships and funding as necessary to support and sustain innovations.
  • Contributes to grant proposal applications. Completes progress reporting to funding agencies, as specified.
  • Communicates effectively with cross-organization and external partners in a timely and clear manner, ensuring that reports, presentations, and communication materials are well-designed, accurate, and appropriate for all audiences.
  • Cultivates a positive, supportive environment for PWLLE staff and network members.
  • Participates on relevant Foundry and health system partner committees.
  • Supports and participates in community-led initiatives as a representative of Foundry Central Office.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
