Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dispatcher (Day shift Tues-Thurs 6:00am-14:00pm) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating the transportation and logistics operations, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods. This position requires strong communication skills, proficiency in data entry, and familiarity with transportation management systems. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule shipments to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and other stakeholders to provide updates and resolve issues.
  • Plans and schedules drivers to ensure proper staffing across all shifts and loads, ensuring alignment with volumes and service expectations.
  • Utilize transportation management systems to track shipments and manage logistics operations.
  • Perform data entry tasks accurately to maintain up-to-date records of shipments and inventory.
  • Monitor freight movements and address any delays or discrepancies promptly.
  • Collaborate with other dispatchers and management team
  • Maintain a high level of phone etiquette when interacting with clients and team members.
  • Compiles data on incidents and accident, distributes and communicates with appropriate personnel.
  • Assist in the shipping and receiving processes as needed.

Skills/knowledge required to perform the job in a satisfactory manner:

  • Previous dispatch or transportation coordination experience (preferably in trucking/logistics).
  • Awareness of Highway traffic act including hours of service, TDG, weight restrictions etc (would be an asset).
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in using trucking software for data entry and shipment tracking.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively convey information over the phone, including written (reports) Emails.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
  • Knowledge of transportation management systems is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Intermediate keyboarding skills using a PC and knowledge of email, word processing and Excel spreadsheet experience.
