Job Description
The Manager, Maintenance is responsible for leading all maintenance functions across Magna Mining. This includes providing strategic direction for maintenance planning, reliability engineering, and asset integrity management to support sustainable production and operational excellence.
All Magna Mining team members are expected to work collaboratively with others, lead the way in health and safety, act with honesty, integrity, and foster an entrepreneurial spirit in pursuit of excellence.
Responsibilities

Develop and execute a comprehensive maintenance strategy that optimizes equipment reliability, availability, and lifecycle performance across mobile and fixed assets, including hoisting plant.

Provide leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to a multi-disciplinary maintenance team, including supervisors, planners, trades, and reliability engineers.
-
Foster a proactive, reliability-centered maintenance culture focused on safety, continuous improvement, and asset performance.
-
Ensure alignment of maintenance objectives with the company’s operational, safety, and sustainability goals.

Oversee all maintenance activities related to:
-
Mobile fleet (underground and surface mobile equipment, support vehicles, and heavy machinery).
-
Fixed plant (processing, crushing, conveying, ventilation, dewatering, and infrastructure systems).
-
Hoisting plant (shaft and hoist systems, conveyances, and associated mechanical and electrical systems).
-
Ensure that preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs are executed effectively to minimize downtime.
-
Manage major maintenance events, shutdowns, and overhauls to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective completion.

Maintain effective spare parts and inventory control processes in collaboration with Supply Chain.

Lead the reliability and asset integrity programs, ensuring compliance with statutory, OEM, and internal standards for critical systems such as hoisting and pressure-retaining equipment.

Implement Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) practices to reduce recurring issues and extend equipment life.

Maintain compliance with applicable mining, hoisting, and mechanical safety codes and regulations.

Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as equipment availability, maintenance cost, PM completion, and reliability metrics.

Identify and implement cost optimization opportunities without compromising safety or asset integrity.

Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Planning to align maintenance priorities with production goals.

Participate in project planning, equipment selection, and commissioning of new installations.
Requirements
Qualifications: Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents
- Post-secondary education in a related field.
- Trade certificate of qualification or professional engineering designation is preferred.
Work Experience: Nature & Length
- 10 or more years of progressively responsible maintenance experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
- 5 or more years of leadership experience.
Key Competencies: Behaviours & Skills

Advanced knowledge of maintenance and reliability best practices.

Established understanding of mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated experience managing hoisting plants.
