Position Summary

The Component Repair Engineering Intern is responsible to work with the Component Repair Engineers to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of all repairs, overhaul, and testing processes associated with Siemens Energy Avon, RB211, and the General Electric LM6000, LM2500 industrial gas turbine engine variants.

The role has wide reach of responsibilities and is an opportunity to gain practical Engineering experience, utilizing a broad range of engineering principles to assist with development of new repair capabilities and optimization of existing repair and overhaul processes.

This position will allow the incumbent to acquire significant technical knowledge relating to maintenance, repair, and overhaul of Aeroderivative Gas Turbine machinery from both a theoretical and practical perspective.

A strong focus on quality and safety is essential, with a requirement to positively embrace continual improvement via the application & development of TCT’s Management Systems.

Duties

The duties include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Participate in the provision of comprehensive Engineering support for TCT’s Component Repair department, including its respective cells of the machine shop, weld shop, thermal spray cell, paint shop, and bench cell.

  • Support the repair development process and production workload by providing engineering support to both the Component Repair Engineering team and Repair Technicians.

  • Ensure company technical and quality standards are applied throughout the business in order to develop a best in class product/service.

  • Support development and sourcing of custom tooling and fixtures as required by the business, including the use of CAD software (SolidWorks) for 3D modelling and drawing creation.

  • Participate in the development of repair Route Cards, Data Cards, and overhaul processes for the General Electric LM6000 and LM2500, and Siemens Energy RB211 and Avon product lines.

  • Lead Engineering Intern project review meetings providing opportunities to present project status updates to team members and area leaders.

  • Participate in TCT’s Non-Conformance Reporting System including supporting investigations using 5-Why or similar root cause methodology and identifying suitable preventative measures.

  • Participate in TCT’s Quality Improvement System including supporting engineering review of improvement solutions and carrying out tasks to implement solutions as required by the business.

  • Increase knowledge of TCT’s QHSE Management System policies/procedures and maintain a positive attitude towards the health and safety of myself and my coworkers.

  • Take ownership of HSE issues and demonstrate enthusiasm and support for the HSE Management System.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Repair Development Program Manager.

What you bring

Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited University working towards a bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Science (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Materials preferred).
