###Job Description
We are currently hiring 2 Core Technicians to support our Exploration and Mine Geology teams. These roles are responsible for drill core handling, sampling, storage, transportation, and core facility operations. One position will primarily support the Exploration team and one will support the Mine Geology team.
All Magna Mining team members are expected to work collaboratively with others, lead the way in health and safety, act with honesty, integrity, and foster an entrepreneurial spirit in pursuit of excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Collect drill core from site locations and transport it safely to the core facility.
- Load, organize, label, and store drill core in accordance with core handling and storage procedures.
- Perform drill core cutting and sampling in accordance with established sampling and QAQC protocols.
- Maintain accurate core management practices, including labeling, storage, tracking, and inventory control.
- Coordinate and dispatch core shipments to laboratories and track sample status.
- Ensure drill crews are supplied with adequate core boxes and related materials.
- Maintain the core shack, yard, and storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Operate and perform basic maintenance on forklifts, rock saws, and other material handling equipment.
- Conduct vehicle inspections, workplace inspections, and follow all safety procedures.
- Assist geologists with core movement, sampling, field work, drill site inspections, and rehabilitation activities as required.
- Ensure drill core is properly catalogued and stored as a long-term geological record.
- Coordinate with site personnel regarding safety procedures and operational requirements.
###Requirements
Qualifications: Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience: Nature & Length
- Minimum of 1-year industry experience.
Key Competencies: Behaviours & Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to manage repetitive tasks.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Team player.
- Valid driver’s license.
