Description JOB DESCRIPTION Ontario Shores is currently seeking a Social Worker, reporting to the Clinical Manager of the Forensic Rehabilitation Unit (FRU) in-patient service area. The successful candidate will be a Social Worker with sound knowledge of clinical social work in the area of mental health and addiction issues.
Responsibilities include: psychosocial assessments; individual, group and family/couple therapy; liaison with community social agencies; active involvement as a member of an interdisciplinary team and discharge coordination and planning.
Requirements
- Masters in Social Work
- Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in good standing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the OCSWSSW Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the College.
- 3-5 years experience in a psychiatric/mental health setting or service.
- CPR Level HCP required
- Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
- Sound knowledge of DSM-IV diagnoses, concurrent disorders and crisis intervention theory and techniques an asset.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and demonstrated competence in performing, case management, clinical assessment and intervention and documentation of care.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the theory and practice of clinical social/mental health work in a Forensic setting.
- Thorough knowledge of social work treatment methods applied in mental health settings/community.
- Knowledge and experience with the challenges involved in community reintegration of longer-stay psychiatric inpatients.
- Demonstrated competence in individual, group and family therapy.
- In-depth practice of CBT and DBT an asset.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and critical thinking abilities.
- Proven excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral/written communication skills.
- The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language is an asset.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the job.
- Variable hours may be required due to patient demand.
