**JOB POSTING – Casual On-Call Education Assistant **
**Job Summary **
The primary responsibility of the Education Assistant is to provide support for students with special needs under the supervision of a classroom teacher. This position is ideal for individuals who are flexible and available to work on short notice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support to individual students or small groups.
- Assist students with personal, behavioral, and communication needs.
- Supervise and/or assist with personal care, hygiene, and toileting as required.
- Administer medical needs as instructed.
- Prepare and modify instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
- Collaborate with the school-based team in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Accompany students on field trips and life skills programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including noon-hour supervision.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with children.
- Education Assistant 1 or 2 qualifications (preference for EA2).
- Training in Basic First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain.
- Courses in childhood education and special needs education.
- Computer literacy (minimum 30 wpm).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
- Physically able to carry out duties.Strong verbal and written English skills.
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
