DESCRIPTION:
Join our Contracts team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Sr. Contracts Specialist and contribute to our mission to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. As a Contracts Specialist, you will develop strong knowledge of our products, customers, and services while collaborating across multiple business units and commercial stakeholders. You will help establish clear, compliant, and sustainable agreements with our customers and act as a trusted advisor to the Commercial team on contract-related matters. By translating complex information into practical, risk-balanced solutions, you will support sales execution and contribute to successful deal outcomes.

A Contract Specialist III will:

  • Develop and negotiate customer contracts for scientific supplies, equipment, and services in alignment with legal, regulatory, and commercial requirements.
  • Draft, review, and amend a range of commercial agreements, including NDAs, tenders, sales agreements, and standard terms and conditions.
  • Support customer negotiations, advising on contractual terms, risk mitigation, and compliance considerations.
  • Prepare compliant, risk-balanced responses to Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
  • Identify and assess contractual risk, escalating non-standard or high-risk terms to Legal as appropriate.
  • Ensure agreements comply with company policies, delegated authority, and applicable regulations.
  • Manage contract lifecycle activities, including execution, amendments, renewals, and accurate recordkeeping in contract management systems.
  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on contract interpretation and standard contracting processes.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Commercial, Finance, and other stakeholders to support effective agreement implementation and management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of contracting processes, templates, and tools.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in Business, Legal Studies, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Prior experience supporting commercial contracts or contracts administration.
  • NCA candidate (National Committee on Accreditation, Canada) or equivalent legal qualification is considered an asset.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in contracts, contract administration, or commercial legal support in a paralegal, legal operations, or contract management role, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating customer-facing commercial agreements.
  • Experience supporting customer negotiations and managing contractual risk within delegated authority.
  • Experience supporting RFQ/RFP or tender processes.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or comparable productivity software
  • Working knowledge of contract law, with experience in contract drafting and negotiation
  • Strong commercial awareness and business judgment, with the ability to navigate contractual, technological, and corporate considerations.
  • Ability to engage effectively with and influence internal business stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload efficiently and accurately.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French (written and verbal) required.

Compensation

The salary range estimated for this position based in Ontario is $75,800.00–$113,675.00.
