About The Project Red Chris is a gold and copper mine located in Taltan Territory, northern British Columbia. Operated by Newmont since 2023, the mine is transitioning from open pit to underground block caving—an innovative method that extends mine life while reducing environmental impact. This transition will create new, technically advanced roles and opportunities to work alongside global experts. We are committed to partnering with the Taltan Nation and local communities, ensuring the project delivers long-term social, environmental, and economic benefits.
Your Impact
As Manager, Construction, Block Cave Project, You Will Play a Critical Role In Delivering One Of Canada’s Most Innovative Underground Mining Projects. You Will:
- Oversee the safe planning, execution, and completion of construction activities within your assigned area.
- Drive accountability for project performance by managing schedules, budgets, resources, and contractors.
- Lead by example in fostering a safety, inclusion, and operational excellence culture.
- Anticipate and manage risks, implementing corrective actions to keep the project on track.
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement practices that strengthen future projects across Newmont
As a Part of Our Team, You Will
You Will Be Part Of a Collaborative Project Management Group That Integrates Engineering, Procurement, Operations, And External Partners To Deliver Results. In This Role, You Will:
- Provide leadership and mentorship to a diverse construction team, guiding them to meet project objectives.
- Partner with EPCMs, consultants, and contractors to ensure alignment across multiple disciplines.
- Build transparent communication channels with senior management and community stakeholders.
- Support a working environment where team members feel empowered to share ideas, solve problems, and contribute to long-term success.
Requirements for Success in This Role
To succeed, you will bring a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and project execution skills:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is desirable, but not mandatory. A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered an asset.
- Extensive experience in heavy industrial construction environments, with proven exposure to both surface and underground projects.
- Proven ability to oversee project planning, budget control, scheduling, and quality assurance.
- Skilled at working across both owner and contractor environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project and the MS Office Suite.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
Your Work Environment
- Willingness and ability to work on a fly-in/fly-out rotation (1 week on / 1 week off), with current travel hubs in Vancouver, Kelowna, and Calgary. Preference is for candidates based in Vancouver.
- You will be part of a culture rooted in safety, inclusion, and strong partnership with the Taltan Nation and local communities.

The expected salary range for this role is CA$CAD 183,600 - CAD 257,040 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
