We are currently looking for a Payroll & Benefits Administrator to join our team of three payroll professionals. This is an exciting opportunity to join an evolving and growing team with lots of potential forrole expansion, team development, and growth. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn US payroll and advance your career into roles such as Payroll & Benefits Specialist or Payroll & Benefits Team Lead.

Roles and Responsibilities
-
Ensure the processing of new hires, employee terminations and employee status changes are accurate and timely for Canadian employees
-
Ensure the preparation and verification of employee pay statements are executed in a timely matter
-
Act as an internal resource who willingly responds to employee and staff inquiries with respect to payroll matters
-
Ensure accurate and timely entry of employee time
-
Compile and process payroll data, such as garnishments, sick pay, vacation time, insurance, taxable benefits and other deductions and issue annual T4 forms
-
Issue record of employment (ROE) in a timely manner
-
Collaborate with other departments to ensure pay and personnel records are accurate and up to date
-
Maintain accuracy of payroll information and/or documentation (e.g. time sheets, leave time, etc.)
-
Prepare the remittances of RRSP, Open Circle Hour Bank Benefits, Sunlife, Union’s etc.
-
Prepare the reconciliation of account balances (e.g. WCB, RRSP etc.)
-
Responsible for the administration of employee benefit programs
-
Maintain files and records in written and electronic formats to provide an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance
-
Remain current with new and revised payroll regulations and legislation, standards and work practices.

Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures
-
Ensure strict confidentiality and privacy of employee and company records
-
Perform other duties as required
Required Skills and Abilities
-
Ability to adapt and learn new software including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Procore, and Viewpoint
-
Knowledge of audits, income tax forms, health benefit programs, sick pay, short term and long-term disability, union and non-union payroll
-
Professional, approachable and customer-service oriented
-
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
-
Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
-
Ability to prioritize workloads and utilize planning & time management skills to adhere to strict deadlines
-
Strong oral and written communication skills
-
Ability to understand issues from both the employee & employer perspectives and assess the risk
Required Education and Experience
-
Completion of or working towards PCP - Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification from the National Payroll Institute is an asset
-
Completion of Grade 12 Diploma or GED
-
Accounting experience is considered an asset
-
2+ years’ experience with full-cycle payroll
-
Experience with multi-provincial processing would be an asset
-
Experience with multi-company processing would be an asset
-
Experience in a unionized environment would be an asset
-
Construction industry experience would be an asset
