About the role

Job Description:

Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing operations tasks involving the receiving, storage, cleaning, packaging and shipping of grain, while also supporting quality processes to ensure compliance with established quality standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned food grain operations tasks including but not limited to general facility upkeep, operating processing equipment, sampling for quality, and packaging
  • Operate various types of mobile equipment such as a forklift, bobcat, or payloader
  • Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections of all food processing equipment
  • Assist with performing planned preventative maintenance ensuring limited downtime and product contamination
  • Inspect quality of the incoming or outgoing product and report findings
  • Assist in maintaining the sites SQF-based Quality Management System & certification
  • Assist in food safety investigations, incidents and customer complaints
  • Complete needed internal audits of facility and grounds, as well as traceability audits and mock recalls
  • Maintain a good working knowledge and adherence to all food safety policies and procedures
  • Perform all tasks in a fashion that promotes the safety and quality of our products
  • Actively participate in all required food safety and quality related meetings and training events
  • Identify and report all food safety and quality issues to management immediately
  • Support the plant supervisor in achieving food safety & quality objectives

What is expected of you and others at this level

  • Has developed proficiency through job-related training and considerable on the job experience
  • Completes work with a limited degree of supervision
  • Likely to act as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • 3-5 years’ relevant experience required
  • Food quality management experience preferred, especially in Grain or Flour mill.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

  • Must be able to stand for an extended period of time
  • Extensive computer use requiring sustained focus and attention to detail
  • Regular exposure to time‑sensitive tasks and competing deadlines
  • Ability to frequently lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds
  • Must be able to climb/stoop/kneel at heights up to 180 feet
  • Works indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures
  • Working conditions could include dust, fumes, moderate noise and uneven surfaces
