Position
Pipefitter, Nunavut
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Superintendent, Welding & Fabrication, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
Responsibilities
- Install and assemble piping systems including pipes, valves, fittings, and related components, ensuring accurate layout, alignment, and secure connections to support operational requirements.
- Fabricate and modify piping systems by cutting, threading, bending, welding, brazing, soldering, and joining pipes to meet precise specifications and safety standard.
- Install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components (e.g. pumps valves, actuators, filters, and couplings) for machinery and equipment, ensuring reliable operation and minimizing downtime.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on piping systems, pumps, and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, diagnosing causes of faults and implementing effective and practical solutions to maintain operational continuity.
- Conduct system testing and quality assurance, including leak detection, cleaning, flushing, and verification of proper operation to meet safety and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and operations staff to plan and execute maintenance projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and site safety protocols.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
- Five (5) years of experience on a mine site maintaining piping systems and pumping equipment in a remote arctic environment.
- Red Seal Journeyperson Certificate or a Nunavut Certificate of Qualification (CoQ) in a recognized piping trade: Pipefitting, Steamfitting, or Plumbing.
- Valid Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) 2020, H2S Alive, Confined Space, and Fall Protection certificates considered an asset.
Compensation and Benefits
For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $154,336.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $56.00 and overtime rate of $84.00) in a work year.
