ABOUT THE POSITION
We are currently looking for one (1) Team Lead, Challenge Assessments for a permanent full time role.
The Team Lead, Challenge Assessments is responsible for supervising the delivery and administration of non-exam SkilledTradesBC assessments, including practical assessments and the trade qualifier process. This role ensures that all processes related to challenging trades and administration of non-exam assessments are appropriately conducted and in adherence to SkilledTradesBC policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
**Team Management:**Responsible for supervising the challenge team, monitoring service levels and supporting and guiding development of challenge team members
- Provides leadership and direction to the Challenge team to ensure it meets established goals, measures and targets
- Monitors daily service levels and assign adjustments and workload as needed
- Manages staff activities and performance. Recommends and implements effective initiatives for training and professional development of challenge staff
- Manages and coordinates various challenge assessments projects as assigned
- Leads teams through complex change initiatives by applying advanced problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Manages and resolves complex issues as serving as the escalation point of contact for internal team and external partners
- Provides coaching and performance feedback to team members to support consistent, high-quality work
- Leads team operations by setting priorities, monitoring targets and progress ensuring goals and service standards are being met
- Fosters a positive, collaborative work environment that encourages problem solving, accountability and continuous improvement
**Stakeholder Management:**Initiates contact with internal and external stakeholders. Responds directly to escalations regarding challenge processes and incidences
- Liaises with the SkilledTradesBC Business Analysts to implement system improvements
- Responds to issues of compromise, complaint, inquiries and appeals regarding non-exam assessments
- Manages assessment agencies and contracts
- Liaises with all SkilledTradesBC approved assessment agencies and SkilledTradesBC registered verifiers and subject matter experts
- Conducts annual audits of SkilledTradesBC approved assessment agencies
- Recruits and trains contractors for trade qualification work experience verification services
- Provides clear direction to external stakeholders
**Department coordination:**Ensures the challenge department runs efficiently by Tracking budget, maintaining inventory and overseeing non-exam assessment processes
- Oversees training providers’ operation of non-exam assessment tools and ensures compliance to SkilledTradesBC standards
- Maintains inventory and security of any materials or supplies required to support management of non-exam assessments
- Oversees marking and reporting of results for non-exam assessments
- Creates and maintains guidelines, forms, documentation related to challenge and delivery of
- non-exam assessments
- Reconciles and approves invoices related to the challenge assessment and non-exam assessments
- Oversees the budget for the challenge department
- Generates monthly department reports, such as volume of challenge applications, service levels and other reports as required
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Highschool or equivalent is required, and post-secondary Business degree, diploma or equivalent is preferred; combination of education and experience will be considered
- 2+ years of team lead experience, with prior involvement collaborating across diverse departments and serving as a subject matter expert
- Previous management experience with a demonstrated ability to attract, retain, develop, and manage staff is an asset
- Knowledge of SkilledTradesBC assessment policies and procedures is an asset
- Experience working with and managing contractors is an asset
COMPENSATION
Salary Band D:$72,898 - $98,628
SkilledTradesBC offers a highly competitive benefits package and perks which include:
- Hybrid work schedule, floater days, and a 37.50-hour work week
