Due to organic growth and an expanding market, we are seeking a dynamic leader to support the local team in the role of Environmental Division Manager for Contaminated Sites and contribute to the growth of McElhanney’s Environmental Practice.
The Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader or aspiring leader to oversee and continue to grow our Environment team as a Manager for Phased Assessment and Remediation in our Vancouver Region, specifically located in either our Vancouver, Langley or Surrey offices. As a People Leader , you will continue to build and lead a team of skilled professionals while working with technical staff in a variety of environmental projects across several communities and locales. We are seeking a true team player, who can act as the ‘team captain’ and provide strategic direction in our Environmental Practice locally and contribute to corporate initiatives.
You will work with our Vancouver Operations Leader (Branch Manager) and other Senior professionals to set the direction of the Team and provide input towards the broader Environmental practice.
You will provide direct technical oversight to your team, while working to ensure project requirements, client needs, and division goals are successfully met. You will continue to cultivate an environment that is set for long term success and foster an engaged culture with strong technical abilities.
What You’ll Do
- Providing senior leadership and mentorship to McElhanney’s contaminated sites team locally, with an emphasis on helping to develop the next generation of leaders within the environmental consulting industry
- Supporting and managing phased assessments and remediation projects
- Actively engaging with Clients, being a local champion for work and business development to grow and continue to establish a local regional practice
- Be open to change, be creative and be an entrepreneur at heart
- Think outside the box – looking to provide innovative solutions within the existing regulatory frameworks by being a partner with our clients, suppliers and regulators
- Providing environmental advice and solutions internally and externally to guide design and assist with project planning
- Foster relationships and manage subcontracting specialties as required
- Being a champion of workplace safety, and preparing and adhering to site-specific health and safety plans
What You’ll Bring
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive work experience in the contaminated sites environmental consulting industry. Five years of which in a role of managing people is considered an asset
- Registration in good standing or ability to be registered with Engineers BC (P.Eng, P.Geo.), BC institute of Agrologists (P.Ag.), College of Applied Biology (R.P.Bio.) or equivalent
- Experience liaising with First Nations and government agencies
- A strong sense of leadership, drive, teamwork, resiliency, adaptability, humility, curiosity, competence, integrity, and forming positive relationships
- Bringing a solution minded approach to complex and complicated problems
- Sound business acumen, client liaison skills, and a keen entrepreneurial spirit
- Possession of a valid BC driver’s license is required at the time of hire
- Strong attention to detail and client/ project management capabilities
What Can We Offer You? The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000 per annum along with the opportunity to participate in our generous Performance Bonus Plan and potential to become a shareholder in our proud employee-owned company. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
