Human Resources Consultant
About the role
Position Overview
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Human Resource Consultant is responsible for the provision of human resource services including management support, employee relations (performance management) and labour relations (contract interpretation, application of progressive discipline up to and including dismissal, grievance handling, investigation of workplace complaints), and recruitment.
The Human Resources Consultant is the facilities SAP resource related to Human Resources and Payroll.
Experience
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a unionized environment performing a broad range of Human Resource functions including but not limited to: employee relations, labour relations and general Human Resources work.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Post-secondary undergraduate degree in a relevant area in combination with a Human Resource Management Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.
Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent computer skills including Excel, word, outlook and TEAMS.
- Experience in ESP and SAP considered an asset.
- Familiarity with HRSS and payroll systems is desired.
- Previous leadership experience considered an asset.
- Works within MHC’s core values, philosophy, vision, CQI goals, policies and procedures.
- Ability to function as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team, including collaboration, team work and good communication skills.
- Proven organization, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff, union representatives and outside agencies.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position.
- Work is primarily in an office environment.
- Must be able to handle multiple priorities and competing demands.
- Ability to work extended hours as required to complete projects.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
