Who we need
Reporting to the Director, Engineering, we are looking for an experienced DriveWorks Engineer to lead the design and development of CAD configurators built from the ground up. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who has created DriveWorks configurators from scratch — not just maintained existing ones — and can translate complex products into robust, scalable automation.
Embedded within the engineering function, you will work closely with design, manufacturing, and business stakeholders to develop and implement new DriveWorks configurators for system-level products as we expand automation across multiple brands. You will own the full automation lifecycle, from initial scoping and architecture through deployment, ongoing enhancement, and long-term maintenance. You are willing to commit to learning our products and continuously evolving configurators to support frequent updates, variants, and brand-specific requirements.
This is a full-time, hybrid role, working 4 days per week at our manufacturing headquarters and one day remotely.
Who you are
You are a technically strong DriveWorks Engineer who understands that effective automation starts with how a product is modelled, structured, and parameterized in SolidWorks. You bring extensive SolidWorks experience from a design or engineering role and have applied that foundation to building robust DriveWorks configurators in customer manufacturing environments.
You bring deep SolidWorks knowledge and understand what can be driven, what should be automated, and how model intent must be structured to support reliable configuration. Rule writing is an integral part of your work, but your real strength is understanding DriveWorks project architecture: how to structure models, rules, data, and modules so configurators are scalable, maintainable, and production-ready.
You are comfortable owning the full automation lifecycle, from initial concept and project architecture through development, deployment, and long-term maintenance. You value clean structure, logical module separation, and automation that performs reliably as products and brands evolve.
What’s in it for you
Make a tangible impact. This is a new, specialized role with the unique opportunity to build DriveWorks automation capabilities from the ground up. You will take ownership of configurators from concept through deployment, directly shaping how products are structured, configured, and released. Your work will accelerate engineering throughput, improve design consistency, and be used daily by engineering and operations teams, making your contributions highly visible and valuable.
Own complex engineering solutions. You will tackle advanced configuration challenges for system-level products, integrating parametric SolidWorks models with DriveWorks logic and data. You will architect projects end-to-end, defining model structure, rules, forms, and outputs, to ensure scalable, maintainable, production-ready automation. You will work on fast-paced, constantly evolving projects, implementing new features and enhancements, and collaborate closely with experienced DriveWorks contractors to ramp up quickly.
Career development. As we expand capabilities, adopt new technologies, and strengthen global partnerships, you will grow with us. In this role, you will have a clear career path as the function grows into a dedicated automation department. You will deepen your skills in a niche, high-impact area, influence automation standards, and contribute to process improvements that strengthen engineering capabilities across multiple brands.
As our new DriveWorks Engineer, you will:
- Scope automation requirements. You will collaborate with engineering, design, and manufacturing teams to define automation requirements for new products and systems, and architect DriveWorks projects from concept to deployment.
- Develop DriveWorks logic and forms. You will architect and implement DriveWorks projects, including forms, rules, expressions, and outputs, ensuring a modular, scalable, and maintainable structure. You will focus on your primary outcome, structuring the configurator for long-term use.
- Manage configurations. You will develop and structure parametric SolidWorks models to enable robust automation, integrating with DriveWorks logic. Use SQL databases and Excel data tables to support configuration, pricing, and product variants, ensuring the configurator accurately drives manufacturing outcomes.
- Deploy and support DriveWorks Live. You will deploy new DriveWorks projects and manage Live environments, including Autopilot workflows and IIS hosting. Validate configurators, troubleshoot issues, and document solutions to support ongoing enhancement and long-term maintenance.
- Support continuous improvement . You will continuously identify opportunities to enhance design automation, refine project architecture, and improve efficiency and reliability across new and evolving configurators.
You have:
- The education and experience. You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, with 5+ years of experience developing DriveWorks automation and SolidWorks configuration models, ideally in a custom manufacturing or engineered-to-order environment. You bring a technical foundation built on extensive daily-use SolidWorks experience from a design or engineering role, with a strong understanding of parametric modelling, configurations, and design intent.
- The DriveWorks expertise. You understand DriveWorks beyond rule writing. You can architect configurators end-to-end, defining how models, rules, forms, data, and outputs are structured to support scalable automation, long-term maintenance, and frequent product updates. You understand how DriveWorks and SolidWorks work together and can determine what information must come from the model, what logic belongs in DriveWorks, and how to structure projects so automation remains robust as products and brands evolve.
- The additional technical skills. You have practical experience integrating SQL databases and Excel data tables into DriveWorks logic to support configuration, pricing, and product variants. You are familiar with IIS-hosted DriveWorks Live environments, including project deployment and Autopilot workflows, and bring strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex configuration, model, and rule-based issues.
- The collaboration and communication. You communicate technical concepts clearly and professionally across teams and levels. You work effectively with engineering, design, and operations partners, sharing knowledge and building strong relationships to ensure project success.
- The adaptability and execution. You manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, navigate change confidently, make sound decisions, and consistently deliver high-quality results on time.
Compensation: $90-100K
What you can expect from the interview process:
