Position Overview The Field Facilities Engineer is responsible for the design, development, optimization, and execution of MOC and small projects in the field. This role is field-based and serves as the technical liaison between field operations and office-based facilities engineering team. This role collaborates closely with the facilities engineers to ensure seamless project execution, integrate operational feedback into engineering solutions and future design. This position plays a key role in troubleshooting, construction oversight, and driving continuous improvement across field facilities.
Key Job Accountabilities
- Project Execution – Lead and support the implementation of MOC or small projects including plan, design, procure and installation. Oversee construction and execution to ensure timelines, budgets, and quality standard are met
- Field Troubleshooting and Optimization – Provide technical expertise to resolve equipment and process issues. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability and safety of field facilities
- Construction & commission support – Serve as the field engineering contact during construction and commissioning. Coordinate with Facilities Engineer to respond to construction RFI and scope change approvals
- Review and Approve MOCs – Review and approved field related MOC requests. Streamline MOC process by prioritizing tasks based on technical scope, cost and operational impact in collaboration with operations engineering team
- Cost Control and Estimation – Provide AFE quality cost estimates, track project cost, invoicing approval and cost control on MOC and small projects
- Safety Leadership – Ensure all facilities and project activities prioritize safety, and comply with HSE regulations and internal policies. Participate in HSE training, risk assessments (HAZOP), and field and corporate safety meetings
- Operational Feedback & Alignment – Gather and communicate field operations’ feedback to office facilities engineering team to influence design improvements and standardization.
- Equipment & Performance Monitoring – Monitor major facilities equipment and process performance data to improve uptime, throughput, or reliability
- Operations Support – Work closely with field operations and maintenance team to assess issues, operational bottlenecks, and execute repairs utilizing MOC process
Primary Qualifications And Skills
- BSc Eng. Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline
- Registered Professional Engineer with APEGA/APEGS or other provincial body
- 8 or more years experience in facility design, project execution, or operational support in the oil & gas industry, with at least 4 years in a field-based facilities engineering role
- Strong knowledge of surface production systems, engineering standards (API, ASME, ANSI, CSA) and industry best practices
- APEGA/APEGS/APEGBC or ASET accreditation
- Proficiency in engineering tools including Excel/Word/Powerpoint, One Note, Microsoft teams, HYSYS or equivalent, PipeSim, Bluebeam, and Navisworks
- Strong project management, communication and analytical skills
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
