BUSINESS SYSTEMS MANAGER

MAIN FUNCTIONS

Business Unit: Lallemand Bio-Ingredients (LBI)
Location: Montreal, Canada (open to Canada or U.S.-based candidates; East Coast)
Travel: International travel required – hybrid (2-3 days in Montreal)
Reports to: VP Global Supply Chain & Business Systems Direct
Reports: 6 FTE (Business Systems Team)

Lallemand Bio-Ingredients (LBI) is a business unit of Lallemand, Inc., a family-owned multinational company active in the food, feed, health, and biotechnology industries. LBI operates a network of nine production sites across North America and Europe, supplying high-value food ingredient solutions to customers worldwide.

As part of Lallemand’s ongoing digital transformation, LBI is implementing the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations ERP platform and strengthening its enterprise systems landscape to support growth, operational excellence, and data-driven decision-making.

Position Summary

The Business Systems Manager is responsible for leading, governing, and continuously improving LBI’s business applications landscape. This role acts as the primary interface between LBI and Corporate IT, ensuring that enterprise systems effectively support LBI’s operational, commercial, and strategic needs.

The Business Systems Manager will lead ERP implementation and optimization efforts, own master data governance, guide system-related aspects of acquisitions, and manage a team of business systems professionals. The role requires strong leadership, deep ERP expertise, and the ability to translate business needs into scalable, robust system solutions.

Key Responsibilities

ERP Leadership & Digital Transformation

  • Lead and support the implementation, rollout, and stabilization of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations across LBI sites.
  • Guide local subsidiaries through ERP deployment, change management, and adoption.
  • Act as business owner for ERP processes, ensuring alignment between system design and business requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives post go-live to enhance usability, performance, and value realization.

Business Systems Strategy & Governance

  • Define and maintain the business systems roadmap for LBI, aligned with BU and corporate strategy.
  • Create a clear vision for how systems such as ERP, CRM, PLM, BI, and AI-enabled tools support business objectives.
  • Ensure system standardization while allowing for necessary local business requirements.
  • Serve as the primary LBI counterpart to Corporate IT, ensuring solutions meet LBI-specific operational needs.

Master Data & Data Quality

  • Own and lead Master Data Governance for LBI across all core systems.
  • Establish data ownership, standards, policies, and controls.
  • Drive initiatives to continuously improve data quality, consistency, and reliability.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to embed data governance into daily operations.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Build, lead, and develop the LBI Business Systems team (6 FTE).
  • Set clear objectives, roles, and performance expectations.
  • Coach team members on business process understanding, systems expertise, and stakeholder management.
  • Ensure adequate functional and technical coverage across applications and geographies.

Stakeholder & Change Management

  • Act as a trusted advisor to BU leadership, site management, and functional teams.
  • Translate business requirements into system designs and implementation plans.
  • Lead communication, training, and change management activities related to system initiatives.
  • Balance global standards with local operational realities.

Business Continuity & Risk Management

  • Lead LBI’s business continuity planning (BCP) from a systems and data perspective.
  • Ensure system resilience, backup strategies, and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Identify and mitigate IT and data-related operational risks.

Budget & Vendor Management

  • Own budgeting and cost control for LBI business systems and related initiatives.
  • Manage external vendors, implementation partners, and software providers.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

M&A and Integration Support

  • Lead systems-related aspects of acquisitions and integrations.
  • Assess system landscapes of acquired entities and define integration strategies.
  • Coordinate data migration, system harmonization, and process alignment.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in a Business Systems, IT Business Partner, or ERP leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong hands-on and functional understanding of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
  • Experience working with Microsoft 365 solutions, including Microsoft Dynamics CRM (Sales / Customer Engagement).
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams and working across cultures and geographies.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end business processes (finance, supply chain, manufacturing, sales).
  • Experience with systems such as: ERP, CRM, PLM, Business Intelligence / Analytics platforms, Emerging AI-enabled business tools

An asset

  • Master’s degree (MBA or similar).
  • Experience in manufacturing, food, feed, life sciences, or process industries is strongly preferred

GENERAL CRITERIA

Required

  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required (up to 25%)
  • Flexibility in working hours to ensure sufficient overlap with European sites.
