Summer Student – Alisa’s Wish Child and Youth Advocacy Center
Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Community Services has an exciting summer opportunity for students in the field of Child & Youth Advocacy. If you are a student between the ages of 15 and 30, who is preparing to return to school in September, and would like to gain experience working with a progressive community-based organization, this opportunity may be for you!
You are a team player with great interpersonal skills and a desire to learn. You are patient, kind and proactive, adept at solving problems. You have excellent graphic design skills, excellent writing skills and a strong desire to serve your community and make a difference in people’s lives. You are helpful and tech savvy. You are able to work with people from all walks of life with kindness and respect.
You will gain skills and experience in the child and youth advocacy field, with opportunities to develop and improve your skills, be involved in local priorities by creating social media content, entering information into databases, researching and applying to participate in community events, Learning about the Alisa’s Wish program & services; reading and becoming familiar with our commonly used prevention resources; and participating in leadership role in Youth Advisory Committee.

This position is funded through the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible, applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred and be legally entitled to work in Canada with a valid Social Insurance Number.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience

Currently enrolled in secondary or post-secondary education

Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized

Comfortable using Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams)

Clear and respectful communication skills

Ability to manage time and complete tasks with minimal supervision

Willingness to learn and contribute within a team environment
Shift/Schedule/Hours per week: 35 hours per week over a period of 8 weeks; for a total of 280 hours
Expected Start Date: ASAP
Wage/Salary: $20.25/hour
