About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Vascular Sonographer is a member of the non-invasive vascular lab team. The Vascular Sonographer applies critical skills related to anatomy and physiology and diagnostic techniques to perform sonographic examinations. The primary focus of the technologist Sonographer is the vascular system and associated pathological conditions. The Sonographer works alongside physicians and surgeons using technology to help assess patients and their conditions. Diagnostic testing is completed as requested in accordance to the department’s standards and techniques.The Sonographer accepts responsibility for maintaining and continually enhancing individual professional competencies through ongoing professional development, including participation in education programs, research and continuous quality improvement. The Sonographer is responsible and accountable for their practice and conduct as defined by the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals and for ensuring that their registration is current and valid. The Sonographer practices within their scope of practice as defined by Sonography Canada.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

Graduate of a recognized Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound Program or equivalent with Vascular Specialty Current (or eligible) for registration with NSCMIRTP Current credentialed member of Sonography Canada as a Canadian Registered Vascular Sonographer (CRVS). Current CPR - BLS ( C ) certification Minimum of one year clinical experience preferred Experience in a tertiary care setting an asset Experience as a preceptor an asset Experience with GE LOGIQ and FalconPro Peripheral Vascular System an asset Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience working with databases and associated software applications. Physical ability to perform the assigned work Ability to maintain good relationships with patients, families and co-workers Ability to work with minimum supervision, on a consultative basis, within the health care team Strong sense of initiative and responsibility Ability to adapt to flexible workload and stressful situation Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

Permanent full time positions; 75 hours biweekly

Compensation And Benefits

$41.75 - $52.46 hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
