Coordinator of Adult Education – General Education

LOCATION OF WORK

NATURE OF WORK

Under the supervision of the Director of Adult Education, this position consists of the performance of duties required for the coordination, supervision, evaluation, research and development of programs and activities in General Education. In particular, the Adult Education Coordinator - GE includes responsibility for the coordination of Upgrading programs, Common core Basic Education programs, Socio-vocational Integration programs, Complementary Education Services, Literacy and Preparatory programs (secondary, vocational & training and College) for the targeted population. This function includes coordinating activities related to the teaching methodology and to methods for measuring and assessing students and teacher’s performance. He/she acts as a counsellor for the Director of Sabtuan Adult Education Services (SAES).

CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS

  • Determines an annual pedagogical plan for the General Education sector;
  • Prepares and monitors the budget under her/his responsibility;
  • Coordinates, supervises and evaluates the tasks under her/his responsibility;
  • Assumes the responsibilities regarding regulations, programs and certification in General Education;
  • Establishes standards and procedures for learning evaluation and development of internal examinations selected subjects;
  • Prepares calendars for general education programs;
  • Prepares and coordinates the development, implementation, application and update of programs, teaching means, methods and techniques as well as the inherent evaluation and control measures under the General Education sector;
  • Participates in the development and implementation of a program of complementary services;
  • Participates in developing and consolidating partnerships with the organizations concerned;
  • Works in concert with other Coordinators and Education Counsellors;
  • Contributes to the promotion, the development market and the preparation of proposals for the SAES.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in education, or related field;

  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in a professional position;

  • To hold a permanent teaching permit (brevet) from the MEES;

  • Masters in Education or relevant field is a determining asset;

  • User of common education data base softwares: Jade-Tosca, Charlemagne, Access, Excel are an essential asset.

  • High level of organizational and communication skills;

  • Fluency in both English and French is required;

  • Cree language is an asset;

  • Information technology and common software oriented;

  • Available to travel.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Full time permanent;

35hrs/week.

  • Benefits and working conditions**according to the By- Law regarding the Conditions of Employment of Management and according internal procedures.

  • The holder of the position may be entitled to certain benefits (vacation, statutory holidays, Northern allowance, housing and outings).

  • Given the current salary regulations and guidelines at the Cree School Board, candidates from another Quebec School Board will be able to obtain a salary as per the scale above-mentioned. However, candidates that are not from the education sector are not eligible to a salary above the midpoint of the position's salary scale.
