About the Role:
The Corus Entertainment/Global News Technology team is seeking a candidate for a full-time Broadcast Technologist position based at Global BC, reporting to the Supervisor, News Technology. The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts including overnight, early mornings, days, evenings**,**and weekends.
This is a Group 5 bargaining unit position in the current Collective Agreement.
You will contribute by:
The following is an outline of some, but not all, of the primary functions and responsibilities for this position:
-
Installing, troubleshooting and maintaining a variety of broadcast systems, facilities and equipment.
-
Maintaining, repairing and periodically operating Microwave and Satellite uplink trucks.
-
Providing field service technical support for remote productions and special events**.**
-
Providing Business / Broadcast IT/Network systems support**.**
-
Implementing and documenting temporary and permanent equipment installations to meet production and technical requirements**.**
-
Participating in equipment purchasing and system design recommendations.
-
Working with vendors for equipment purchasing and support.
-
Representing Corus and Global Television in a professional and courteous manner.
-
Performing other duties as required.
Skills and experience you will bring:
-
Graduate of a recognized post-secondary Technologist or Broadcast Engineering program.
-
Must be a strong team player who is eager to embrace new technologies, works well with others, is self-motivated and has the ability to work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment**.**
-
An understanding of digital video/audio signal standards and their integration into Broadcast Systems.
-
Working knowledge of media content acquisition, editing, and production workflows and technologies**.**
-
Advanced networking knowledge is an asset.
-
An understanding of RF transmission and reception for television, microwave and satellite signals.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Visio, Word, and Excel**.**
-
Possess a valid class driver’s license and clear driving record.
-
Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows**.**
