About the role

The Department of Accessibility Services at UPEI is seeking an Exam Coordinator. The Exam Coordinators are responsible for the coordination of the department's testing and exam accommodation services. Reporting to the Manager of Accessibility Services, the Exam Coordinators are an essential part of the Accessibility Services team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the other Exam Coordinator to coordinate and oversee all aspects of exam administration for students registered with Accessibility Services
  • Work closely with the Administrative Assistant and Accessibility Advisors to ensure the smooth administration of exams within the department
  • Maintain the Accessibility Services exam booking system (Accommodate)
  • Serve as the primary contact for coordinating, scheduling, and administering testing accommodations and exam support services for exams, including scheduling exam proctors and Student Assistants
  • Schedule testing spaces and book rooms to accommodate the individual needs of students
  • Communicate exam locations, times, and other required information to students and faculty
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of all testing materials
  • Ensure students have access to exam materials and approved accommodations
  • Coordinate the invigilation of tests and exams, including evenings, weekends, and on-call coverage during peak periods, as required
  • Arrange all approved testing accommodations for exams administered through Accessibility Services, including (but not limited to) scribing services, text-to-speech software, extended time, and low-light environments
  • Coordinate the setup of adaptive technologies required for students to complete tests and exams and maintain related software and equipment
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students, staff, and faculty regarding exam-related matters
  • Proctor tests and exams when additional staffing is not required
  • Uphold and monitor academic integrity principles and practices during exam administration
  • Support the Manager of Accessibility Services in the training, supervision, and scheduling of test proctors, scribes, readers, and student assistants
  • Provide referrals to academic support services for students with accessibility needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; a Bachelor of Education is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of teaching pedagogies, learning accommodations, and inclusive practices is an asset
  • Experience working with students with disabilities or in a related field is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism, including properly handling, storing, and disposing of sensitive documentation
  • Experience using Kurzweil, Dictate, Accommodate, Microsoft Office Suite, and PC systems; strong Excel skills are an asset
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships, resolve conflicts, and handle situations with tact and professionalism
  • Demonstrated dependability and integrity
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Supervisory experience and knowledge of exam administration and coordination are assets
  • A candidate who enhances the diversity of the Accessibility Services team would be an asset
